Assessment

This subject is Pass/Fail only. I try and keep the assessment as flexible as possible to account for changes that take place in the subject, student abilities and expectations and to make sure that we can, as a group, take advantage of opportunities to do real work in the community. That said, there are hurdles that you need to get over in order to achieve a passing grade. They are:

1. Attend at least 80% of classes. There really is no better measure of your engagement with the subject than your presence and your participation.

2. Make sure that you keep up with requested tasks. There is a list at the bottom of this page.

3. The main piece of assessment is the creation of a multimedia feature using image, sound and text. This assessment will be done in groups and you need to harness your time and collective skills to ensure that you complete it successfully. The final piece will be constructed in either Flash or HTML and will be uploaded to our news portal (which should be completed soon).

You are also expected to write an individual reflection of 1000 words on your final assessment piece.

Hurdles set to date

1. Create and maintain a blog

2. Contribute to the collective social media accounts (delicious and flickr).

3. Complete set readings and post comments to your blog.

4. Complete set class activities

I think at this stage I might be interested in more of a soft news story and was wondering if anyone else is as well. Will post an idea as soon as I can come up with one or would also be intested in hearing others ideas as well.
